Dzogchen - Natural Great Fulfillment - is the expansive heart-essence teaching and practice from the Buddhist tradition that introduces and reveals the inherent wisdom and goodness within us all. This consummate spiritual approach has been passed down in an unbroken lineage from the Himalayas for 1,400+ years and is accessible to anyone, regardless of religion (or none).
The three principal Dzogchen practices are Rushen, Trekchod and Togal. This advanced retreat, introducing and focusing on the Six Lamps and the visionary practice of Togal, will be guided by lineage holders Lama Daniela and Lama Christopher.
Prerequisites for this retreat are that participants should have extensive and current experience with both Trekchod meditation practice and silent retreats, as well as having had pointing out instructions. To register, you must be a paid member and logged in under that email. All registration applications are subject to approval.
Silent retreat provides a precious vehicle to experientially explore the natural radiance of spaciousness. The sacred space of a contemplative environment combined with the lineage teachings is profoundly powerful. Each morning will begin with an inmost refuge practice.
Noble Silence will be observed outside the Meditation Hall. Opening dinner and the last lunchtime of retreat will offer plenty of time for lively chatting with other retreatants!
The Lamas will offer teachings and guided practice periods, as well as lead Q&A sessions each day in the Meditation Hall. There will be plenty of opportunity each day to practice outdoor skygazing and take walks in nature, harmonizing body, breath and heart-mind.
For twenty-five years, Lama Daniela and Lama Christopher have each practiced and studied intensively under the guidance of accomplished masters, both Himalayan and Western. Besides completing numerous extended silent retreats, they each have been teaching for more than fifteen years, and were ordained as Lamas in 2015. They are thirty-ninth in direct succession to this Dzogchen lineage spanning fourteen centuries. In addition to their commitment to the authentic and accessible transmission of these timeless wisdom teachings here in the West, they are also both joyful parents and have each enjoyed life-long professional careers.
The retreat will be held at a beautiful retreat center in
Malibu, CA. The center is set on a promontory overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and is a non-smoking, alcohol-free and drug-free environment. There are numerous walking trails to enjoy.

- Registration fee of $965 per person includes accommodation and three meals each day (dinner Sunday evening through lunch on Friday).
- Accommodations in single rooms with private bath. Rooms are assigned in order of payment, so early registration is encouraged.
- Registration does not include the traditional offering (Dana) for the activities of the Lamas, voluntarily made in honor of the teachings at the end of retreat (via cash, check or credit card). Further details provided on the last day of retreat. Donations may be tax deductible.
